How did you become a woman working in Australia? What was the start?

I studied in Australia from 2011. While studying, I joined a professional business network. After graduation, I returned to Thailand and maintained my contacts within the business network in Australia.

In 2018, I was offered a job from one of my contacts in the business network who was looking for someone bilingual (English – Thai) in the capacity of Business Development Manager to expand their business in the Asia, Australia and Pacific Rim regions including Thailand.

Could you please share with us your best experience working abroad? Which part is your most preferred?

My best experiences of working abroad are about good teamwork, a multicultural work environment and the helpful nature of my colleagues. The most preferred part was, I have been provided prompt feedback, compliments and the areas where improvement is required. This has resulted me knowing straight away what I should do to keep up the good work performance and how I can keep on improving my performance.

What are the outstanding differences between working in Thailand and working in Australia?

An outstanding difference is a very light traffic to get to work. E.g., 14 mins to travel for 14kms. Also, other differences are the code of conduct, work policies which strongly influence respect, diversity, antibullying of fellow workers in the workplace. These policies also provide policies on how to deal with these situations effectively should they occur.

What would be your advice for other international businesswomen who are interested in working abroad especially in Australia?

Obtain a working visa to allow them to legally work in Australia.  Also enhance your soft skills & hard skills to be ready such as resilience skills, problem solving, confidence, professional, emotional intelligence, fast learning, fast thinking, ability to learn & use software or CRM etc.

Who would be your Man of the month?

Dr. Erfan Shahkar, an International Business Development Executive at Agentis Innovations. He had experiences working with women including me, and he is a gentleman, supportive, kind, respectful and helpful person who is wonderful to work with.
